If you couldn't already tell, this is a joke. An alternate wording for the poster is "I stand for Irony".
Has the definition of art changed in the dictionary? No? Then neither has mine. I've learned about new kinds of art, but they don't shatter my perception of art. Are poems art? Yes. Does that make black out poems art? Of course it does. (Also, clanged. Really?)
I feel that the best piece to represent me is my final exam comic because it shows my way of drawing. I'm a cartoonist and my works aren't realistic in the slightest. It also helps that it's based on one of my favorite games of all time. Choose 1 piece of art that you used skills and techniques learned from previous projects. Discuss your growth as an artist and how you incorporated these skills and techniques to create the piece. In my daily monster piece, I used a lot of sharpie and I really liked using it. So i decided to do a whole picture using sharpie. And that is how the sharpie robber man came to be. It incorporates my cartoony art style with the sharpie to make a really good piece. Medium: which medium did you most enjoy working with and why? Which medium did you not use but wish you had explored? Include photo. As I said above, I really like using sharpie now. I really like the sharpie robber as well as the were-centaur, but my favorite sharpie piece is the Daily Monster. I love the colors and the creativity of it and it's become one of my favorite pieces. What is a technique you used in your artwork that worked well? Explain what technique it was and why it was successful.
Even though I'm being really repetitive, sharpie worked the best (besides most of my art used sharpie). My main problem with pencil now is that it rubs off too easily either on to the paper covering or on my hands. With sharpie and other markers, I don't have to worry about it. Plus sharpie just looks so much better than pencil. These are the million dollar questions...
Weebly is stupid so my responses are in your email, Mrs. Sudkamp. Why did you pick the option you did? What drew you to it? For this project, I had to create a limitation for myself. I chose to use only black sharpie because I've come to really like using sharpies. I didn't really come across any problems while doing this but I really like how it turned out.
The three words I had to use were Chicken, Family and Chips. So naturally my piece is about a chicken family surrounded by Pringles heads.
The first layer is made of tissue paper that was put down with gel medium. The second layer is red paint rolled across the paper. The third layer is blue paint pressed onto the paper using plastic cups. The fourth layer is four pringles heads in each of the corners. The final layer is a picture of the chicken family on a couch. Question Time:
1. I worked with one of the greatest minds of none of the generations, me. Since I worked alone, I did everything. It was horrible. 2. I think it was well drawn... 3. I would definitely need more time to do each frame and actually put in sound effects. Clay Sculpture
Object Art
Newspaper Art
These are my pieces for this unit (Were-Centaur, Daily Monster, Black Out Poem, Morphed Character- Finper, and the learning spheres.)
Question Time: What is the difference between getting "inspiration" from another piece and "stealing" an idea? Inspiration is creating something completely new while stealing an idea is getting inspiration from another work of art. Is it okay to use part of an idea or part of another picture in your piece if you change something or give credit to the original source? It's okay to use an idea from another artist as long as you credit them just like you cited your sources in an essay. Why did you combine the pieces you did? I combined a werewolf and a centaur because I liked the idea of mixing two creatures that are half human. Why did you pick this medium? Was it because you enjoy working with it? Or was it to match your idea? I used a mix of pencil, colored pencil and sharpie because those are my favorite mediums to use. If you were to change ONE thing about your piece what would it be? I probably would have put more time into the moon in the back. What is the most successful thing about your art piece? I really like how I did the sky and how the fur on the wolf and horse parts look. These are the pictures I made for this unit (the charcoal drawing, candy picture, expressive furniture- envy, and the final picture. The forced perspective photos are on Jacob's blog.) The hardest mini lesson we did had to be the charcoal picture. It's such a difficult material to work with because of how precise the shading had to be. The easiest lesson was the forced perspective photos because all we had to do was take pictures.
How is this artwork about who you are or what you like? The final piece is about me because it shows three objects that represent me. The 3DS and PlayStation controller represent video games. The sketch pad shows I like to draw, especially cartoons. Did you gain skill with familiar materials? I feel like I have gotten better at pencil drawings. It's the main style I use because it's the one I always have access to. I also feel like I've gotten better with colored pencils because the colors actually look solid now. The artist I found on This is Colossal is Mattias Adolfsson. While that last name sounds worrying, his incredibly detailed and complicated sketches are amazing to look at. They have so much creativity to them and a cartoony art style (that is always a plus to me). I hope I can someday draw half as good as him. He has a shop and the post on This is Colossal.
