For this project, we were given a part of a famous painting and we were tasked with painting it. My part was the top right of this painting of a shell. Looking at the two side by side, I think my painting sort of resembles the real thing. Although I didn't know at the time, I was looking at the piece of the painting upside down the whole time.
I Have a Global Awareness of Artmaking
For this project, we drew from a cup of artists. We then had to make a painting based on said artist. I had made a joke saying "I'm going to get someone really complicated like Van Gogh or something." Welp. Here I am. Since Van Gogh had a lot of dry brush strokes, I went nuts with my brush. I looks messy, but that's Van Gogh's charm (at least that's what I'm telling myself) I Developed My Art Making Skills Before this, I hadn't really painted much. But, I think this looks pretty good. My favorite parts of this are the sky and the water (Yes, I realize that's like 85% of the painting). The colors and the brush strokes just look really smooth. I Reflect As a whole, I think the project went well. Putting aside the fact that I took about a week and a half to get an idea, I got it done before it was due and it turned out really good. Could I have done some aspects better? Of course. The lights in particular. But that's art. You make mistakes and learn from them. I Developed My Art Making Skills
With this project, I feel like I improved my clay making skills. So, I probably went from below-average to mediocre. I feel like the paint does make it look much better and I really like the color of the yolk of the eggs. I Take Risks I'd say this entire project was a risk, but this was a necessary project. If you can't tell, I'm not one for sculpture. I've never really liked how my clay pieces turn out, but maybe it's just because I prefer 2D over 3D. Luckily, this project didn't turn out that badly, in my opinion. I Solve Problems The biggest problem I face with every project is that I can never think of ideas. Maybe it's because I procrastinate. Maybe I'm not the most creative person when it comes to most kinds of art. Once I get over that hill, it's all downhill and I work hard to get it done. It doesn't sound like it should work, and maybe my luck will run out, but it's always worked out in the end. |
